Most people have the view of "unconditional
love" as meaning "under all conditions you
must be loving." This can be interpreted as
in all ways being kind, all ways giving
more, or all ways giving in. This may be
considered the "Hollywood View" of love,
always showing the warm, tender side of
love.
This form of love is not REAL, and it can
cause terrible suffering to the point of
martyrdom. Consider REAL love as the power
to hold together and allow for growth. REAL
love is the power that holds the atoms
together. This form of love is not the same
as the intense emotional love we are
familiar with.
Consider a new definition of unconditional
love as "there are no conditions to what
love may look like." REAL unconditional love
may be a harsh tone in the voice that moves
someone from danger. REAL unconditional love
may say, there is no more support, you have
to do this on your own now, like the mother
eagle pushing the adolescent eagle out of
the nest when it is time to learn to fly.
REAL love allows for mistakes that lead to
connection, and does not judge the learning
process.
When a person starts to link in their heart
to REAL unconditional love, there is a
connection to a strong support from Life
itself. The heart starts to feel a depth as
wide as the ocean tide and less moved by the
drama of the shallow ocean shore. There is
movement riding the tide, along with much
less drama. To some who are used to intense
action, and drama, REAL unconditional love
may at first seem cold and unconnected. It
may feel very strange to not get upset with
situations that used to be triggers for
drama and pain. There is a sense of being
more of a witness of events instead of a
player needing controls.
It is possible to be filled with such
unconditional love that it does not matter
what happens around you. We are now entering
an age where unconditional love is moving
toward an extended expression of Compassion.
This vibration of compassion allows the
witness to stay connected and still feel the
essence of REAL unconditional love. To be
the mother eagle who remembers how it felt
to be pushed out of the nest, and does it
anyway for she also remembers how it felt to
fly.
